Market guide

Match pressure, airflow and tools

Choose the collector branch from ports and shop layout

A small high-resistance tool port and a large stationary-machine hood do not ask the same work from a collector. Map the shop before comparing maximum airflow claims.

01

Tools

Record every hood and actual port

List the tool, port diameter, built-in restrictions, intended hood and whether more than one machine can operate. An adapter cannot recover a poor capture design.

Small ports
Long flexible hose and narrow ports generally create a high-pressure problem.
Large ports
Stationary machines and ducts generally need adequate airflow at the resistance of the complete path.
02

Claims

Look for performance against resistance

Free-air CFM and peak static pressure are endpoints, not the operating point. Prefer a documented fan curve or measurements with the test path visible.

Filters
Include cyclone, filter and loaded-filter resistance in the operating system.
Hoods
Manufacturer airflow figures do not prove that a particular tool hood controls exposure.
03

Boundary

Keep engineering and compliance outside the ranking

Market Index compares complete machines and documented tradeoffs. It does not size duct, certify airflow, prove exposure control or interpret fire, explosion, electrical or building requirements.

Professional review
Use the manufacturer and qualified professionals for duct, electrical, location and hazard review.
Materials
Never assume a wood-dust collector accepts sparks, hot debris, metal, hazardous dust or flammable vapors.
