Before the shortlist

The first four answers do most of the work

A useful ranking starts only after the constraints specific to this market are clear.

  1. 01

Where is the modem or ONT, where are the weak areas, and what walls and floors lie between them?

  2. 02

Which rooms have Ethernet, coax or another viable wired-backhaul path?

  3. 03

What are the fastest internet plan, wired devices and client Wi-Fi generations that must be supported?

  4. 04

Does the owner want automatic app management or browser-level controls, VLANs, logs and subscription-free security features?

Market language

The terms a useful comparison should define

Backhaul
The connection carrying traffic between a mesh node and the gateway, using Ethernet or one or more wireless bands
MLO
Wi-Fi 7 Multi-Link Operation, whose usable modes and bands depend on the access point, firmware and client
Band steering
Logic that encourages a client to use one supported radio band rather than another
Aggregate rate
The sum of several theoretical radio link rates; it is not the speed delivered to one device
