Read module limits, roof electronics and islanding as one listed electrical systemPower labels hide the design work. Compare exact DC voltage and current, MPPT allocation, AC output, branch or string protection, module electronics, rapid shutdown, battery ports, transfer and load behavior under the adopted code and utility rules.
Electrical
Run the module and string calculation
Check cold Voc, maximum and operating DC voltage, Isc, continuous input current, parallel strings, tracker limits, conductor ampacity, connector mating and temperature derating.
- Panel watts do not prove fit
- A DC-to-AC ratio cannot resolve excess module current, tracker allocation, clipping distribution, voltage window or a connector mismatch.
- AC limits remain exact
- Output current, continuous-load treatment, service voltage, breaker, busbar, export control and phase topology bound the installed system.
Roof
Treat MLPE and rapid shutdown as a system
Microinverters, optimizers and rapid-shutdown receivers require exact modules, transmitters, cable, connectors, spacing, firmware and listing combinations.
- Rapid shutdown reduces voltage conditionally
- It does not remove energized modules, damaged conductors, arc hazards, fall risk, lockout duties or firefighter access requirements.
- Granularity adds service points
- Module monitoring can identify a location while roof access, compatible stock, connector condition and installer labor still decide restoration time.
Backup
Draw transfer, neutral and protected loads
Identify the battery, inverter mode, controller, transfer equipment, service pass-through, neutral treatment, black start, generator path and every backed-up load on the one-line.
- Continuous and peak are different
- Timed surge, off-grid power, PV contribution and service pass-through cannot be treated as one unrestricted whole-home rating.
- Witness the intended outage
- Test grid loss, island formation, motor starts, solar recovery, battery reserve, load shedding, local shutdown and safe grid return under the commissioned design.
