Market guide
Sample, home or production
Choose the machine from what the roasted coffee must doA sample roaster helps evaluate many coffees consistently. A home roaster supplies a household. A production machine turns labor, green coffee and packaging into saleable inventory. Their batch numbers should not be compared without those different jobs.
Sample
Quality evaluation favors repetition
A 50 or 100-gram fluid-bed machine can prepare many consistent cupping samples quickly. It does not create economical retail bags without repeated tiny cycles.
- Bowls
- Set batch size from the cupping protocol.
- Data
- Choose sensors that inform a real buying or profiling decision.
Home
Weekly consumption sets useful batch size
Freshness, variety and learning can favor smaller charges. A larger machine may roast less evenly or respond differently below its intended working range.
- Calculate
- Use roasted yield after moisture loss, not green charge alone.
- Cadence
- Choose how often you actually want to roast and clean.
Business
Output includes every surrounding task
Selling coffee adds green receiving, QC, resting, packaging, labeling, inventory and customer commitments. A machine is viable when the complete weekly process fits available labor.
- Volume
- Use present and credible near-term sales rather than aspiration.
- Backup
- Plan what happens to orders during service or repair.
