Write the symptom, suspected duration, recurrence, affected loads and decision the record must support.

Compliance
Record the exact standard, class, edition, aggregation and reporting requirements.
Troubleshooting
Set event thresholds and pretrigger behavior from the known system rather than a generic template.

Topology

Map every conductor and channel

Record phase system, neutral, protective earth, nominal voltage, frequency, source and load direction.

Current
Choose sensor type and range for expected load, inrush, harmonics and conductor access.
Voltage
Match leads, category, range and connection method to the actual installation.

Separate measurement from authority

An instrument can retain a qualified record but cannot establish root cause, utility responsibility or code compliance by itself.

Personnel
Only qualified people working under the site's electrical-safety program should install or remove it.
Outcome
A Class A label does not certify the installation safe or the diagnosis correct.
