Choose process, power and aluminum path

Define the welds and electrical service before comparing maximum output

A multiprocess label does not mean every process, metal and input condition is equally capable. Start with the qualified work, then choose the machine branch that supports it without adapters, undocumented settings or missing hardware.

Work

Name the metal, joint and procedure

Record base metal and coating, thickness range, joint, position, filler, required process, duty and any governing procedure or code before selecting a power source.

Qualification
Presets and programs do not qualify an operator, procedure, structural weld or safety-critical repair.
Preparation
Identify coatings, cleaners and SDS hazards before heat is applied.

Aluminum

Choose the exact aluminum path

Spool-gun MIG, push-pull MIG and AC TIG solve different aluminum work. Verify wire, gas, torch, liner, feeder and supported program rather than relying on an aluminum-ready label.

AC
DC TIG is not an AC TIG aluminum process.
Package
Retain whether the spool gun, push-pull gun, TIG torch, pedal and regulator are included or optional.

Input

Match the rating label to the available power

Output and duty change with input voltage and phase. A qualified electrician must size the receptacle, branch circuit, grounding, disconnect, extension lead and generator from the exact manual and rating label.

Adapters
Dual-voltage capability is not permission to use an improvised adapter or undersized circuit.
Site
Wet areas, confined spaces, generators and long leads need their own documented control plan.
