Market guide
Build the complete safe welding system
Price power, gas, fume control, fire prevention and training with the machineThe welding power source is one part of a hazardous production system. The purchase is incomplete until electrical installation, cylinders, extraction, PPE, hot-work controls, consumables and regional service are ready.
Exposure
Control arc, fume and bystander hazards
Select helmet shade, eye, face, hearing, hand, body and respiratory protection from the actual process and hazard assessment. Screen bystanders, keep the head out of the plume and use effective local exhaust.
- Ventilation
- Outdoor or open-door work does not by itself prove adequate ventilation, and oxygen must never be used for ventilation.
- Respirators
- Where required, use an appropriate formal respiratory-protection program rather than an informal mask assumption.
Fire
Plan gas, cylinders and hot work
Secure cylinders upright, protect valves, use the correct regulator and hose, leak test the system and keep oxygen away from oil and fuel. Remove or protect combustibles and inspect concealed spaces.
- Watch
- Use the required hot-work permit and fire watch for the site and task.
- Confined
- Confined-space, tank, coated-metal and unknown-material work needs qualified controls beyond a product comparison.
Ownership
Commission the whole package
Inspect leads and insulation, set polarity, connect the correct gas and torch, verify extraction and emergency controls, test representative work and retain the manual and consumable map.
- Service
- Confirm regional parts, warranty labor and repair turnaround before the machine becomes production-critical.
- Boundary
- Market Index does not establish a welding procedure, code compliance, structural repair or safe work plan.
