Compare host, deck layers, jog behavior, software, media and signal routing as one system

Normalize the playback engine and physical controls before comparing feature lists. Four channels can mean four software decks on a laptop, four embedded standalone decks or four mixer strips controlled through two layered deck sections, each with different failure and routing boundaries.

Engine

Separate software-hosted and embedded playback

Write down where analysis, stems, effects, library and recording run. Include CPU, operating system, driver, license and account for laptop systems, or firmware, storage, export format, streaming provider and local-media fallback for standalone systems.

Laptop features depend on the host
Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX10 and RANE FOUR require compatible computers and current rekordbox or Serato workflows. Track separation, stems, effects and displays depend on software version and host resources.
Embedded streaming is not offline media
AlphaTheta XDJ-AZ supports four-deck standalone playback and named streaming paths on current firmware. Streaming still depends on network, account, provider catalog and service terms, so keep tested local media.

Controls

Compare channel access and jog behavior

Count physical mixer channels, deck layers, source switches and the controls available without changing layers. Compare static jog size and feel with motorized torque, platter state, calibration and transport requirements.

Four channels can share two deck surfaces
DDJ-FLX10, XDJ-AZ, RANE FOUR and RANE PERFORMER each expose four mixer channels, but layered deck control and external-source behavior differ. Rehearse the active-deck and source-switching workflow.
Motorized control adds operating boundaries
RANE PERFORMER uses two motorized platters to control four layered decks, while RANE FOUR uses static jogs. Motors add rotating state, power, transport and acceptance checks rather than making performance universally better.

Connections

Trace every source to main, booth and microphone paths

Build a channel table for software decks, external line or phono sources, microphones, headphones, main, booth, recording, zone and computer handoff. Verify gain, ground, source switch and effects routing in the exact manual and operating mode.

Dual USB is a handoff tool, not a guarantee
DDJ-FLX10, RANE FOUR and RANE PERFORMER support professional multi-host workflows, but two ports do not remove computer, driver, library, power or operator dependencies.
Professional connectors still need gain control
Balanced main and booth outputs help with venue routing, but do not prevent clipping, ground problems, hearing exposure or a failed downstream system. Acceptance-test every destination at conservative level.
