Commission the integrated DJ performance system
Test software, media, routing, microphones, power, firmware, level and recovery before the eventCommission the complete performance rig in a known configuration. Record hardware and firmware, freeze the computer or embedded software build, verify media and accounts, connect the final audio path and rehearse host, network, media and power failures before transport.
Configure
Freeze and document software, firmware and media
Record exact model, serial, firmware, driver, OS, DJ software, license tier, mappings, library database, analysis version, streaming accounts and privacy settings. Keep permitted installers, settings and a verified local library backup.
- Software-specific controls need a mapping test
- AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 assigns Groove Circuit, Stems FX and other functions differently across rekordbox, Serato and djay. Test the chosen software rather than commissioning from control labels alone.
- Standalone modes still vary by firmware
- Pioneer DJ OPUS-QUAD supports four-deck standalone and optional computer modes, but library, wireless, streaming and host features remain firmware, account and mode specific.
Signal
Witness every deck, input, output and power state
Play a known file through every intended deck and source. Verify channel and crossfader assignment, cue, main, booth, zone, microphones, recording, USB handoff, battery or adapter, cable strain, restart and recovery at the final destination.
- Battle layouts need their own acceptance routine
- Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV5 uses a two-channel battle layout with large static jogs and dedicated software performance controls. Test crossfader, jog, stems, mic and both software paths on the event computer.
- Battery systems need a timed load test
- Numark Mixstream Pro Go combines battery operation, built-in speakers, screen and wireless features. Runtime changes with battery age, temperature, display, speakers and Wi-Fi, so carry mains power and rehearse shutdown.
Fallback
Rehearse failure and hand off the service plan
Disconnect network, remove the primary media or computer, interrupt a source and restart the rig. Confirm a legal local track remains playable, outputs recover without damaging level changes and operators know the support, spare-cable and alternate-source plan.
- Control level and physical risk
- Set gain and limiter practice from the downstream sound system, manage exposure duration, keep liquids away, use a stable load-rated table and case and route power and audio away from hands and foot traffic.
- State the commissioning limit
- A successful test does not guarantee future software compatibility, cloud or streaming access, battery runtime, uninterrupted playback, sound quality, audience response, hearing safety or performance success.
