Readout
Match shutter behavior to the subject
Test mechanical, electronic-first-curtain, electronic or global-shutter modes under motion and artificial light.
- Artifacts
- Stacked readout reduces some distortion but does not eliminate banding, flicker or every electronic-shutter artifact.
- Range
- Global shutter changes readout, not the guarantee of dynamic range, noise or color.

Capture
Qualify autofocus, burst and buffer
Use the intended lens, subject, file, shutter, exposure and drive settings, then measure useful frames, buffer recovery and card write time.
- AF
- Subject detection and recognition are aids with scene, lens, firmware and operator limits.
- Media
- The fastest mode may require a specific card format, compression or reduced feature set.

Video
Test recording and thermal limits
Confirm resolution, crop, frame rate, sampling, codec, media, power, output and published heat conditions for the actual take length.
- Rig
- External recorders, fans, cages and USB power change cost and operating constraints.
- Boundary
- A published thermal duration or weather statement is not a guarantee for a different environment or setup.
