Compare media, power and control

Build a recorder workflow that survives the whole production day

A recorder can have excellent preamps and still fail the job through one card, a short battery transition, weak monitoring or a dependent app. Compare operating continuity and recovery with the same care as audio format.

01

Media

Distinguish simultaneous recording from later copying

Redundancy means writing independent destinations during the event. USB auto-copy afterward does not protect the original capture.

Cards
Use the current tested-media list and retain capacity, file system, splitting and supported speed class.
Recovery
Test power loss, full media, corrupt file and card replacement with non-critical material.
02

Power

State the complete runtime condition

Battery chemistry, phantom channels, display, wireless control, recording format and temperature can materially change runtime.

Changeover
Verify whether AA, L-mount, smart battery, locking DC and USB sources switch without stopping the recording.
Kit
Include sleds, cables, chargers and a safe mounting or bag arrangement.
03

Control

Treat wireless apps as convenience paths

Remote control can help metadata, arming and planted recording but is not a guaranteed mission-critical connection.

Monitor
Confirm what can be monitored locally, through a camera feed and from a remote device while recording.
Firmware
Preserve settings and test media, timecode, apps and paid plug-ins after every update.
