Commission and control the torque system
Verify certificate, setup, reaction safety and records before controlled useCommission the serialized system, not the model family. Reconcile the tool, certificate, procedure, adapters, fixture, software and calibration owner, then witness the loading method at representative low, middle and high working points.
Control
Freeze the procedure and serialized evidence
Record tool or analyzer serial, drive and range, units, direction, target and tolerance, certificate number and date, calibration points and uncertainty, approved adapters, software version and the responsible procedure owner.
- Set an evidence-based interval
- Calendar time, cycles, consequence, drift history, transport, environment and intermediate checks should drive recalibration. A reminder on the display is not the policy.
- Quarantine abnormal tools
- Remove a wrench or analyzer after impact, overload, fixture movement, implausible readings or failed checks. Assess work since the last known-good result before return to service.
Fixture
Commission the reaction and loading path
Rigidly secure analyzers such as the Norbar TruCheck 2 and Mountz EZ-TorQ III, use centered rated adapters and the correct rundown fixture, and keep hands, clothing and cables clear of pinch and rotation paths.
- Scale the loading method
- At high torque, a stable mechanical loader can improve repeatability and keep the operator out of the wrench arc. Never hand-hold an analyzer against reaction.
- Witness representative points
- Exercise the actual tool types and directions at controlled working values. Low, middle and high points can reveal setup, repeatability or range problems hidden by a single check.
Handoff
Preserve records and the decision boundary
Assign who reviews pass or fail results, exports records, backs them up, controls changes, issues certificates and authorizes return to service. A daily verification and an accredited calibration are different claims.
- State what the record proves
- A controlled result can support that a named tool produced a measured output under the documented setup. It does not validate an unspecified fastener procedure or assembly.
- Retain the no-joint-integrity boundary
- Commissioning, calibration and traceable records cannot guarantee clamp load, joint integrity, fastener performance, procedure adequacy, reliability, regulatory acceptance, injury prevention or a liability outcome.
