01

Before the shortlist

The first four answers do most of the work

A useful ranking starts only after the constraints specific to this market are clear.

  1. 01

What circuits, transient locations, voltages, currents and environmental conditions must the complete meter-and-lead assembly address?

  2. 02

Which accuracy, resolution, AC bandwidth, crest factor, filter, LoZ, temperature or current functions are actually required?

  3. 03

Is time-stamped logging, isolated connectivity or a specific calibration and traceability path required?

  4. 04

Which qualified-person procedure, proving source, de-energization, PPE, leads, fuses and employer approvals govern the work?

02

Market education

Read only as far as you need

The path changes with your research stage. Each guide is built around a decision that removes part of the market.

03

Buying paths

The shortlist covers different ways to own the product

A useful market view needs a credible answer for each common budget, setup, and ownership pattern. These are the paths represented in the current desk.

Market language

The terms a useful comparison should define

CAT rating
A measurement-category and voltage marking for named transient environments when the complete meter, terminal, lead and fuse conditions are met
True RMS
A method for measuring effective AC value within stated bandwidth, crest-factor, range and signal limits; it is not waveform analysis
LoZ
A low-impedance voltage mode that can reduce capacitive ghost readings while loading the circuit differently from a normal high-impedance input
Counts
Display resolution on a range, not a complete statement of accuracy, calibration uncertainty or safety
