Market guide

Choose a color-management display by delivery target

Start with print, SDR, HDR or design delivery and the real viewing environment

Choose the delivery standard before the panel. Print matching, SDR editing, HDR grading, design and high-density desktop work ask for different luminance, black floor, gamut, signal, room-light and verification systems.

01

Target

Name the output standard

Record color space, white point, transfer function, luminance, black level, resolution, frame rate and viewing environment.

Print is a viewing system
BenQ SW272Q or EIZO CG2700S can support print work only when display luminance, paper, printer profile and controlled viewing light align.
HDR needs sustained behavior
ASUS PA32UCXR peak output is only one part of HDR. Window size, duration, zones, black floor and thermal state matter.
02

Workflow

Choose the calibration responsibility

Decide whether the display measures itself, uses an external instrument or relies on operating-system and software paths.

Built-in sensors simplify fleets
EIZO CG systems can schedule internal measurement, but instrument correlation, targets and validation still need ownership.
Apple modes are ecosystem-bound
Studio Display reference modes and calibration behavior depend on exact Apple hardware, macOS and workflow support.
03

Room

Design the viewing environment

Control ambient light, glare, wall color, hood use, desk depth, viewing distance and ergonomic support.

A hood is not room control
It reduces some stray light but does not stabilize ambient illumination, surround or reflections behind the operator.
Comfort remains personal
Resolution, refresh, PWM behavior, brightness and text scaling require an actual session; a professional label does not guarantee comfort or accessibility.
