Build the complete safe spray system
Treat high-pressure fluid, ignition and exposure controls as part of the purchaseAirless injection can cause a surgical emergency even when the wound looks small. The working system must include guarded pressure-rated hardware, grounding, ventilation, PPE, containment, cleanup and an emergency plan.
Injection
Control high-pressure fluid injury
Never point the gun at a person or body part, never stop a leak with a hand and never spray without the correct tip guard and trigger safety. Follow the complete pressure-relief procedure before clearing, changing or servicing anything.
- Emergency
- Suspected injection injury needs immediate emergency medical care and the coating information; do not treat it as an ordinary cut.
- Hardware
- Inspect gun, guard, hose, fittings and grounding before every use and replace damaged pressure-rated components.
Fire
Control vapor and ignition
Read the material SDS and equipment manual for grounding, bonding, ventilation, classified locations, static, pilot lights, switches, motors and other ignition sources.
- Solvents
- Do not infer that an electric or battery sprayer is safe with a flammable material or in an enclosed space.
- Combustion
- Gas units create carbon monoxide and remain outdoors away from openings and air intakes.
Exposure
Plan containment, PPE and hazardous coatings
Overspray, rebound and vapor require material-specific ventilation, respiratory, eye, skin and hearing controls plus protection for occupants, neighbors, vehicles and property.
- Legacy
- Lead, asbestos and other hazardous materials require identification, applicable rules, qualified practice and waste control before disturbance.
- Waste
- Retain a compliant plan for wash water, solvent, filters, contaminated masking and leftover coating rather than sending them to a drain.
