Choose a top-load washer and dryer pair by room, utilities and loads
Start with the laundry room, lid and door clearance, water, drain, circuit, outdoor vent, household loads and physical reachA matched laundry pair begins with the room and recurring loads. Measure the entire delivery route and operating envelopes, qualify water, drain, electrical supply and outdoor exhaust, then list fabrics, bulky items, stains, load frequency and each user's reach before choosing agitator, impeller or removable architecture.
Room
Draw both machines in use
Measure cabinet width and depth, rear hoses and duct, lid-open height, dryer-door swing, aisle, shelves, floor, side clearance and service extraction. Repeat the survey through doors, stairs, landings and turns.
- Top loading needs vertical clearance
- LG WT8600, WT8205, WT8200 and WT7000 have different tub depths and lid envelopes. A shelf that clears the closed lid can still block loading, service or safe reach.
- The dryer door shares the aisle
- Map the exact electric dryer's hinge and full projection with baskets and people present. A visually matched pair can still create an inaccessible transfer path.
Utilities
Qualify water, drain, power and exhaust
Verify shutoffs, pressure, hot and cold hoses, pan, drain height and capacity, grounded washer outlet, dedicated dryer circuit, correct cord, metal transition duct and an exterior termination that opens freely.
- Duct geometry changes drying
- Count diameter, length, elbows, wall cap and accumulated lint. A moisture sensor cannot overcome a restricted or crushed exhaust, and a long path may require redesign before appliance selection.
- Gas is not an interchangeable suffix
- This desk retains exact 240 V vented electric dryers. A gas counterpart needs the correct fuel, shutoff, connector, combustion air, venting, qualified work and a separate exact-pair decision.
Loads
Choose architecture from real textiles
List ordinary load weight, towels, sheets, pet bedding, workwear, delicates and the largest washable bulky item. Compare tub reach, central-post space, turnover, tangling, dispenser and spin extraction.
- Agitator and impeller trade space for motion
- WT8205 uses an agitator, while WT8600, WT8200 and WT7000 use impellers. Neither mechanism guarantees better cleaning, gentleness, rinsing or bulky-load fit without exact test and load evidence.
- Capacity labels are bounded
- Claimed cubic feet do not establish how a comforter moves, rinses or reaches the dryer. Use independent usable-load evidence and keep commercial-laundromat fallback for items that cannot circulate freely.
