Build the complete safe snow system
Treat moving parts, discharge, fuel, batteries and transport as part of the purchaseA snow blower combines an auger, impeller, traction drive, stored fuel or lithium batteries, poor footing and low visibility. Safe ownership requires a route, exclusion zone, cleanout method, maintenance plan and backup.
Moving parts
Stop and isolate before clearing
Disengage, shut down, remove the key and power source as directed, wait for every moving part to stop and use the supplied cleanout tool. Never use a hand or foot in the chute or housing.
- Clothing
- Wear fitted winter clothing and keep scarves, cords, hair and loose items away from auger and controls.
- Objects
- Inspect for stones, toys, cables, newspapers and ice that can jam or become projectiles.
Energy
Control carbon monoxide, fuel and batteries
Run combustion engines only outdoors away from doors, windows and air intakes. Cool before fueling or transport and control spills, vapors and ignition.
- Lithium
- Use exact packs and chargers, inspect for damage and follow temperature, wetness, storage and transport limits.
- Electric start
- Outdoor receptacles and cords still need the manual's grounding, GFCI and connection controls.
Operation
Protect people, footing and transport
Keep the discharge zone clear of people, glass, vehicles and roads under changing wind. Use eye and hearing protection, stable footwear, lighting and cold-exposure breaks.
- Ramp
- Use rated ramps or lifting equipment and positive frame tiedowns; never stand below the machine during loading.
- Boundary
- No product record validates a slope, discharge decision, transport method or safe work plan for a property.
