Choose an induction cooktop by cutout, circuit and cookware

Start with the counter, cutout, electrical service, pan set, zone layout, ventilation and service access

An induction cooktop starts with the counter, electrical panel and pans already in the kitchen. Survey the finished cutout and cabinet below, have the branch circuit matched to the exact nameplate, and test the household cookware before comparing boost wattage or flexible-zone names.

Counter

Fit the full appliance and cooling path

Record cutout width and depth, corner radius, counter material and thickness, edge distance, support, cabinet depth, drawers, cooling air and any approved oven combination. Plan how the glass and electronics can be removed for service.

Nominal width is not a cutout
Bosch NIT8061UC, Electrolux ECCI3068AS, Frigidaire Professional PCCI3080AF and Whirlpool WCI55US0JB all target a 30-inch class opening, but their cutout, clamping, clearance and junction rules differ.
Glass needs structural protection
Support and handle the cooktop only as instructed. A weak edge, trapped cable or blocked cooling path can damage the counter or appliance and create electrical or hot-surface risk.

Power

Verify the branch circuit from the nameplate

Have a qualified electrician match voltage, breaker, conductor size and count, grounding, junction, disconnect and local code to the exact model. Do not infer suitability from the old appliance or breaker handle.

Boost can share available power
Several zones may divide power when used together. Record the pair or group rules and compare them with the household's simultaneous cooking pattern.
Installation is not a cooking guarantee
Correct power supports documented operation but does not promise pan temperature, boil speed, energy savings, quietness, cooking results or reliability.

Cookware

Map pans to zones and detection

List base material, flat diameter, weight and the positions used together. Test a magnet across each base, then retain only pans within the exact manufacturer's material and size guidance. Add approved glass cleaning and cooling-path maintenance to the ownership plan.

Recognition depends on the base
A pan that attracts a magnet may still be too small, warped or poorly positioned. Detection and zone graphics do not guarantee stable coupling or even heat.
Ventilation and medical guidance remain
Provide the required cooling and room ventilation, keep cooking attended and follow the implanted-device maker or clinician's distance guidance. Controls and lockouts do not remove hot-pan, fire, electrical or electromagnetic risks.
