Freeze the exact chassis, hinge, panel and handle plan before comparing capacity or preservation features, then prove that water, power, ventilation, delivery and future service can support the installed system.
Opening
Survey the finished installation
Record opening width, height, depth and squareness, floor level and load, adjacent walls, hinge side, door and drawer travel, toe kick, overhead trim, ventilation and the route from the loading point.
- Nominal width is not a cutout
- Sub-Zero CL3650UFD/S/T and Thermador T36BT120NS occupy the same width class but have different installation, door, trim and utility conditions. Use the current guide for the exact suffix.
- Panels are functional parts
- Dacor DRF367500AP and Fisher & Paykel RS36A72J1/N require panel weight, thickness, handle leverage, hinge, reveal and ventilation decisions before the cabinet fronts are fabricated.
Storage
Map containers to usable space
List weekly fresh food, frozen food, tall bottles, platters, produce, ice and door-bin needs. Compare shelf and drawer geometry after evaporators, walls, bins, filters and ice hardware rather than treating published total volume as usable capacity.
- Choose the layout around reach
- French doors reduce each door arc, while bottom drawers change frozen-food reach and organization. Test whether nearby islands and walls allow full drawer, shelf and filter removal.
- Zones have bounded roles
- Convertible drawers and humidity controls can help organize particular foods, but labels and setpoints do not guarantee actual temperature, preservation time or food safety.
Utilities
Own water, power, heat and service
Confirm a reachable shutoff, specified water pressure and tubing, grounded dedicated supply, heat rejection path, anti-tip work, delivery protection and a local technician who can extract the system without damaging millwork.
- Ice and water add maintenance
- Document filter model and interval, purge procedure, leak inspection, ice-bin cleaning and the plan for shutting off water during service or absence.
- Accounts remain optional to core cooling
- Record app, account, Wi-Fi, telemetry and update needs, but witness temperature controls, alarms and essential operation locally. Neither connectivity nor commissioning guarantees quietness, temperature, preservation or reliability.
