Establish a useful baseline before actingPlacement, warm-up, calibration logic, firmware, aerosol, humidity and airflow can move readings. Commission the exact unit in the setting where its trends will be used.

Place
Avoid obvious local distortion
Keep the monitor away from direct breath, cooking plume, windows, supply vents, sunlight, wet surfaces and heat unless that source is the intentional subject.

- Use a repeatable representative height and location for the question.
- Mixing
- One monitor cannot describe every room or microenvironment.

Compare
Co-locate before separating units
Run devices side by side long enough to observe baseline, response, recovery and data gaps under shared conditions.
- Particles
- Optical PM agreement can change with aerosol type, humidity and correction.
- Radon
- Use the specified averaging and confirmation procedure rather than reacting to a short fluctuation.

Calibrate
Record every automatic and manual adjustment
Document baseline algorithms, fresh-air assumptions, correction factors, reset behavior and whether raw or corrected values are retained.
- Drift
- Recheck against a known or co-located reference on a written interval.
- Service
- Sensor aging and unavailable replacement parts can end the useful life before the display fails.
