Map views, power and recording
Design the system from the property and evidence windowStart with the approaches and events that matter. A high-resolution camera in the wrong position or a battery camera that wakes late can be less useful than a lower-resolution continuously powered system with the right view.

Views
Draw the coverage map
Mark doors, driveways, walkways, gates and interior privacy boundaries, then set the required identification or overview distance for each view.
- Light
- Test backlight, headlights, porch lights, infrared reflection and night motion at the actual mounting height.
- Occlusion
- Plants, parked vehicles, pillars, screens and door swing can remove the critical moment.

Power
Choose the reliable energy path
Battery, solar, plug-in, doorbell wiring and PoE create different wake, maintenance, routing and outage behavior.
- Battery
- Climate, traffic, live view, weak radio signal and recording length can dominate recharge interval.
- Wired
- Confirm transformer, receptacle, Ethernet, PoE budget, surge protection and code-compliant cable route.

Recording
Define the retained time window
Choose event or continuous recording, pre-roll, clip length, cooldown, simultaneous streams and days retained before sizing storage.
- Event
- A detection system can miss, wake late or suppress repeated activity.
- Outcome
- No camera count, resolution or recognition label guarantees identification, deterrence, response or usable evidence.
