Market guide

Compare storage, subscriptions and privacy

Price the recording and access service, not only the camera

Local card, hub, NVR and cloud systems differ in retention, remote access, recognition, encryption, account dependence and recovery. Build the five-year service and storage path around the required evidence window.

01

Storage

Resolve where every recording lives

List camera storage, base station, recorder, cloud copy, export format, overwrite behavior and what happens if the camera is removed.

Capacity
Calculate retention from camera count, bit rate, resolution, frame rate, codec and event volume.
Failure
Test full storage, disconnected internet, failed drive, missing hub and power restoration behavior.
02

Plan

Separate free, paid and local features

Alerts, rich notifications, object classes, history length, continuous recording and emergency monitoring can sit in different plan tiers.

Five years
Include subscription, cellular backup, replacement storage, batteries and recorder service.
Change
Cloud features and prices can change; preserve the current terms and an acceptable local fallback.
03

Privacy

Control viewers, audio and sharing

Use unique accounts, multifactor authentication, least privilege, prompt updates and a household policy for indoor views and audio.

Transfer
Remove shared users, cloud history, devices, recorders and integrations before sale or tenancy turnover.
Boundary
Local storage does not automatically mean local-only operation or freedom from accounts and metadata.
