Compare complete permit-ready architectures rather than battery boxesThe useful product is the permitted system shown on the one-line. Battery modules, inverter, gateway, transfer, panels, disconnects, protection, load controls, communications and existing solar or generation must be compatible as one design.
Architecture
Draw the service and energy paths
Map the utility, meter, service, panels, solar, battery, generator, EV charging and every backed-up load before comparing equipment.
- Coupling changes the system
- AC- and DC-coupled labels affect inverter ownership, conversion paths, retrofit fit and solar behavior but do not prove compatibility by themselves.
- Transfer controls islanding
- The approved gateway or transfer equipment must isolate the utility and establish the supported backup bus under the exact service arrangement.
Compliance
Resolve listings, code and utility conditions
The complete configured system needs the applicable product listings, rapid-shutdown behavior, overcurrent protection, disconnects, signage, spacing, permits and interconnection approval.
- Component listings do not automatically combine
- Confirm the exact battery, inverter, controller and transfer combination on current manufacturer and approval documentation.
- Siting is a design input
- Ambient range, flood exposure, vehicle impact, egress, fire separation, ventilation, working clearances and local fire rules can change the location and cost.
Operations
Define software and service authority
Commissioning credentials, firmware, cloud accounts, remote support and installer access may control configuration and future replacement.
- Keep local recovery documented
- The household needs safe shutdown, restart and support procedures when the app, network, cloud or installer account is unavailable.
- Record configuration ownership
- Retain the one-line, settings, serials, permits, commissioning record, account transfer and warranty registration outside the vendor app.
