Verify the exact deck package, regional power, support furniture, transit hardware, cartridge installation, alignment, tracking force, anti-skate, VTA, azimuth, speed, isolation, grounding, record care, packaging and service before valuable playback

New to this marketBegin with the constraint that changes the whole shortlist

Does the room and workflow favor belt or direct drive, rigid or suspended construction and fully manual, auto-lift or motor-stop behavior?

01

Before the shortlist

The first four answers do most of the work

A useful ranking starts only after the constraints specific to this market are clear.

  1. 01

Does the room and workflow favor belt or direct drive, rigid or suspended construction and fully manual, auto-lift or motor-stop behavior?

  2. 02

Which exact arm geometry, effective mass, headshell, counterweight, cartridge mass, compliance, body height, stylus profile and tracking range must work together?

  3. 03

Is a cartridge or phono stage included, and does the final MM or MC path have the required gain, loading, cable termination, balanced topology and grounding?

  4. 04

Who owns dealer setup, speed and alignment verification, furniture and isolation, record and stylus care, regional power, safe listening, packaging, parts and service?

Market language

The terms a useful comparison should define

Drive architecture
The motor and coupling arrangement, usually belt or direct drive; the architecture alone does not establish loaded speed, noise, isolation, service life or sound quality
Suspended subchassis
A platter-and-arm structure isolated from the outer plinth by springs or elastomers; it still needs leveling, cable clearance, suitable furniture and sometimes periodic tuning
Cartridge compliance
The suspension flexibility of the cartridge, used with cartridge and arm mass to assess resonance and tracking fit; price or moving-magnet and moving-coil labels do not prove compatibility
Phono loading
The gain, resistance and capacitance presented by the phono stage to the cartridge; a line input does not supply phono equalization and a built-in MM stage does not automatically support MC cartridges
