Define the recording job before comparing pixelsA dash camera is a supplied set of views, power behavior, storage and retrieval. Start with what must be recorded while driving and parked, then decide how long those files must survive.

Views
Name every required channel
Decide whether the job needs front, rear, cabin or additional views and whether the exact package supplies each camera and cable.
- Cabin
- Rideshare recording adds infrared behavior, passenger notice, audio policy and retention questions.
- Rear
- A hatch, truck cap, long vehicle or defroster can change cable length, routing and useful aim.

Power
Design the parking-power path
Engine-off recording needs an exact hardwire, OBD or auxiliary-battery path, fuse selection and voltage cut-off that preserve a reliable start.
- Mode
- Buffered, time-lapse, impact, motion and radar modes retain different context and consume different energy.
- Limit
- Parking coverage ends when energy, temperature, trigger, storage or firmware conditions fail.

Retention
Calculate storage from the real mode
Use all simultaneous streams, bit rate, codec, card capacity and loop behavior to estimate retained hours, then verify with original files.
- Media
- Use supported high-endurance storage, inspect it and format it on the documented schedule.
- Boundary
- No channel count or resolution guarantees identification, continuous capture, admissibility, security or a crash outcome.
