Start with vehicle, service and parking
Resolve the physical and electrical system before choosing a stationThe useful charger follows from the vehicle inlet and onboard limit, electrical service and panel, conductor route, parking position, connector reach and the qualified installation path.

Vehicle
Record every vehicle and inlet
List the exact NACS or J1772 inlet, onboard AC limit, approved adapter, charge-port location and likely next vehicle.
- Limit
- A higher-output station cannot make the vehicle accept more AC power than its onboard charger allows.
- Adapter
- Confirm vehicle-maker support, latch, temperature limits and storage for any adapter rather than treating connector shape as complete compatibility.

Electrical
Map service through the station
Have a qualified person assess service capacity, panel spaces, load calculation, circuit, conductors, disconnect, receptacle or hardwire method, grounding and local code.
- Current
- Retain circuit and configured output together, including the continuous-load basis in the applicable instructions.
- GFCI
- Receptacle, equipment protection and local GFCI requirements can interact; follow the current manual, code and authority having jurisdiction.

Parking
Measure mount and cable reach
Place the station where the cable reaches the inlet without strain, trip exposure, vehicle contact, tight coiling or a connector on the ground.
- Exposure
- Match exact enclosure, temperature, sunlight, water and mounting instructions to the site.
- Boundary
- A listed connector, amperage or enclosure does not guarantee vehicle support, charging time, uptime or a safe installation.
